Walled Lake Central kicked off homecoming week on Friday with its annual parade, carnival and football game.

The festivities started during the school day a pep assembly that featured performances by the Vikings’ choir, cheerleaders and POMS team. Walled Lake Central senior Diya Jonnalagadda gave us an inside look at the fun throughout the day with an Instagram takeover. The festivities then continued into the night as family and friends lined the sidewalks around the school and into the neighboring subdivision for the Homecoming Parade. Cars filled with the homecoming court and student-athletes led the way, followed by the Vikings’ marching band and elementary students wearing the “Future Vikings” shirts.

After the parade, there was plenty of fun activities for all the kids in attendance, including inflatable slides, cotton candy, face painting and a dunk tank. Students and kids lined up for the chance to dunk teachers Megan Lepkowski and Christian Hojnicki.

The 2025 homecoming king and queen were then surprised during halftime of the football game. Miranda Sandoval and Michael Virga were stunned when they realized they took home the honor.

“I was not expecting this,” said Sandoval. “I have been on court for the past four years, and I really thankful.”

“I am just so thankful because I won it with such a wonderful person,” said Virga. “I promised everyone who voted for me cookies, so I guess I have to go buy some.”

While the evening itself was a special one, the Walled Lake Central football team fell to Waterford Mott, 44-0.
